Justin White, a theology teacher at Dowling Catholic High School since 2012 and more recently co-chair of the Theology Department of the school, has been named by Bishop Richard Pates as Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry in the Diocese of Des Moines effective June 1.
A native of West Des Moines, White holds a master’s degree from The Catholic University of America in historical and systematic theology as well as a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and theology from the same institution.
He has taught four sessions to the permanent deacons in their post-ordination training and has also served as an adjunct professor at Grand View University.
“The Diocese of Des Moines is most fortunate to enlist the services of an individual of Justin’s caliber,” said Bishop Pates. “Our outreach and service to youth and young adults are among the highest of priorities in the diocese.”
Bishop Richard Pates made the following statement: "A dispensation from Lenten abstinence from meat and fasting on Friday, March 17, 2017 is hereby granted to all to whom it is applicable in the Diocese of Des Moines. This is a tribute to St. Patrick, Patron of Ireland. May the day be blessed for all. Some have indicated that a superb fish fry at one of our parishes would also be a marvelous way to commemorate this feast."
